The Gatespace Trusted Home Network is a service offered to people who know that they need a home network, but don't know where to start, or would prefer to avoid the time consuming process of figuring it out.

When you subscribe to the Trusted Home Network service, Gatespace will provide a residential gateway and all the software necessary. Your only additional expense will be for add-on networking cards for the computers you wish to connect to the Internet - and we help there, too.

Typically, a high-value service is more expensive than the do-it-yourself approach when viewed over a 12 month period. But, the Gatespace Trusted Home Network gives you all the benefits of the premium service offered by a cable company, at a price less than the do-it-yourself cost. And, you can do it all from our web store, no wallet-wrenching, head spinning visit to the local electronics store, and no installation technician roaming through your home. You order the service, and any add-on equipment you need from our store, then you recieve everything you need in the mail with easy-to-follow instructions for plugging it into your existing broadband service. Everything else is done from our Service Center.

Cost Comparison Notes:
Monthly cost is calculated on a 12 month amortization of all costs.
Only 2 PCs were assumed in calculating the cost of the firewall software - adding firewall software to every PC in a large network significantly changes the cost comparison in favor of the Trusted Home Network.
Comcast offer only available to Comcast customers, Gatespace Trusted Home Network is available to any broadband subscriber, allowing you to get the best price for broadband service.
Network interface equipment costs for PCs connected in a home network are not shown, since those costs are the same in all three cases and do not affect the monthly comparison.
The hub of the home network is the residential gateway. It provides a connection point. The broadband service enters the home, and is divided and routed to intended smart devices. However, unlike a router that you buy at the electronic store, the residential gateway has a processor, which runs applications (much like your PC). The innovative way the residential gateway interacts with our powerful network servers (at our Service Center), creates an entirely new way for some services to be delivered to your home or small business.
Gatespace is able to create a trusted environment for services that cannot trust your PC. A good example might be a home security (alarmsystem) application. No security company wants to load software into a home computer that can be compromised in an uncontrolled environment or damaged while surfing the Internet - this is a service that MUST run in a trusted environment.

The Gatespace approach to content management brings the sophistication and discipline of a large company IT department to your home network. The illustration below shows how an application requiring a trusted environment can be made available without requiring (or relying on) software in your home computer.
Note: spending limit software is not included in the basic package, parents may want to restrict shopping sites.
The content management software cannot be corrupted by viruses infecting your PC, which helps protect users from unwanted content even if rogue software on your PC is trying to deliver it to your desktop.
Building your own home network means that you are the only person who can fix it. The Trusted Home Network gives you access to the home network configuration settings from anywhere, and you have the comfort of knowing that Gatespace is here to support your home network even when you aren't.

The Trusted Home Network service provides a secure portal (window) that you can use to access any of the user settings for your own home network. Simply clicking on 'Remote Admin' in the Quick Links section of this website, allows you to securely login to the administration screens of your Trusted Home Network.
Always-on Internet service has many virtues, but it presents serious security challenges. Using wireless technology for networking around your home, exposers your computer to additional threats of intrusion or eaves dropping. The advanced architecture of the Trusted Home Network, along with certain best-practices implemented in our user configuration screens allows us to maintain the highest standards of security without compromising simplicity or flexibility. The salesperson at the electronics store will certainly sell you on the simplicity of setting up your home network, but will not begin to explain the security holes.
Routers with built-in firewalls are typically disabled, because defining port-forward rules to allow network gaming is too difficult, the Trusted Home Network provides a list of named games and devices, so that you can use the firewall in the way it was intended - letting knows users in, while keeping unknown intruders out.
Installation instructions accompanying most wireless access points, simply tell you to leave WEP encryption turned off unless you know exactly what you're doing. The Trusted Home Network isolates all traffic until the WEP is properly configured. We have simplified WEP configuration so that it is practical to require its use.
Internet content management isn't just for kids. Offensive content comes in many forms and is hidden in unlikely places. The likelihood of stumbling across images and banners that you would rather not see increases daily. The web is a resource for you - not a place to be avoided.
The fact that Gatespace is setting the pace with the Trusted Home Network is no accident. We are the first, and we will continue to lead, introducing trusted services that you need. Other home network services will be copying our solution, but leadership requires a comprehensive understanding of the total problem.
